I wear mine to do housework and cook. Sometimes it stays on all day because I'm that busy with all the household things, sometimes just for a bit because I'm running errands or getting too warm or am visiting with friends!
My son (3.5y) always brings me my apron when I go start cooking in the kitchen. It's such a sweet little gesture and I love that he doesn't feel the kitchen experience is complete without it! I also love wearing it while cleaning!
I have been finishing making myself an apron for the last few months (talk about procrastination, *sigh*), and just yesterday I had an experience that told me how much I need to finish it, not to mention how much I need to use it! I had gone out in the morning and had put a little extra thought to the clothes I was going to wear, and soiled my shirt with oil and grease while cooking for my family. My first thought was: now, THIS is why women wore aprons! I do love how women looked with aprons in the old days. It gave them that homely, motherly look!
I agree! I found a linen one when visiting family in France with a big center pocket. I love it and wear it even when wearing casual clothes. It has saved many a shirt from stains and makes me feel prepared to make a meal.
When I cooked the first dinner for a date, I wore my apron as always. I greeted him at the door in my apron, after a little hesitation. I wanted to remarry but would an apron be off-putting? Nope, I yam what I yam. So I kept it on. He thought it was weird but didn't say anything. We've now been married 36 years. That's a lot of home cooking in an apron 😊
I have multiple aprons so that when one is dirty, I can easily throw it in the hamper and don a clean on. After morning Mass or a workout I put on an apron to wash dishes, put them away and make a meal. Then the apron reappears when I am cleaning, tidying and doing any project. The apron pockets are super useful when putting clothes on the line and having a place to pull the clothespins from. I wear my apron unless I am spending time with a guest, going for a walk, working at the computer, or lounging. I wash and change my aprons frequently enough that there is no worry of it being too dirty. It's so much better than soiling my clothes or keeping a portion of my clothes for regular messes.
All day? When certain chores/cooking is being done? I need more details.

Thank you so much for this Homemaking School. I went to an estate sale today and purchased an apron. Onward and upward!
👏❤️

It’s also nice to have sizeable pockets in the apron to pick up odds and ends found while moving about the house. :)
💯 !
