Yes but it also depends on the safety of your neighbourhood unfortunately :/

Thank you for your post! What would you recommend for first time mom completely exhausted with the unexpected "firsts" of raising a little one? I depend so much on grocery deliveries and pretty much anything that can be delivered to the home. It feels like it takes so much effort to get out with the babe and then it feels draining to be in any store or grocery store where I could conserve that energy at home doing what I need to do at home. I genuinely would love your feedback! Best, Catherine

I will add I live in a metropolitan area where the "stress energy" is very high.

Can you start small? Go to the grocery store once per week (you don't even have to get all your groceries...maybe just the produce, meat, and dairy products you'd prefer to pick out yourself. You can still deliver the heavier/shelf stable things). Part of the reason why it is so draining is because it's a totally new experience. You don't have a system/rhythm down...so just jump in and start to build one! Say you decide Tuesday mornings will be your day to grocery shop. Don't be legalistic about it, but plan that when the baby wakes up from his morning nap, you'll go every week at that time. Then you can start thinking about a list on Monday. Have it ready. Soon you'll start to figure out a system (you'll go through the store the same way every time (your little one will look forward to stopping at the lobster case to count the lobsters! It's a high point not to be missed :)) and it won't be so overwhelming.

By the way, one of the "unexpected delights" for me of shopping at the same place/same time in person every week is that we know the grocery store employees. They smile at my kids and say hello to me. Hugs! You can do it!

Don't do what you are not comfortable doing. Start by just ... taking a walk with the baby in the stroller!

Start with whatever seems doable to you. The library?

It doesn't have to be the grocery store, but think and pray about possibilities.
