I've known some really naturally beautiful women who can 100% get away without a lick of makeup, even for special occasions, (usually it's because they're blonde and have large eyes, and don't have any dark shadows under them!), but for the rest of us mere mortals, most of the time it's just that we look more awake and more ourselves with a certain level of makeup. I know that on days when I skip the under-eye concealer and coat of mascara, I look in the mirror and grimace a bit. So your "charity to others" comment made me laugh! I am sure it's easier to look at someone who just looks a tad less tired.
I like the bare minimum, but my husband doesn't like makeup at all. So I stick to my tinted lip balm as a compromise. Besides, I had to have one of my lower eyelids reconstructed after a mole developed melanoma (thank God for clear margins), so I don't even bother with mascara as I feel everyone would be thinking "she missed a spot!" (There's no eyelashes on that part of my eyelid anymore) 😆
If I put on lipstick during the day one of my sons would invariably ask: Where are we going?😊
I’m 68 and wear makeup every day. I would just as soon leave my home shoeless. I don’t feel dressed without it.
I got a laugh about the comment “makeup should be an act of charity not vanity.”
That is the same thing I have heard Jonette Bencovic Williams and Teresa Tomio say. Both are in media but I think it applies to all of us.
Love this! Completely agree ❤️
