The School for Housewives brings you short, practical, and thoughtful messages to inspire you to make your home. If you’re new here, go to the homepage for the previous Lessons; the categories are arranged in the menu bar at the top.
From the womb, the child is formed physically and in every other way.
In his mother’s arms, he is learning about the world. Every action: feeding him, changing him, dressing him, singing to him, rocking him to sleep; the sounds he hears and what he smells; and every other thing she does is giving him an experience of life, about which he has everything to learn.
The most important thing the mother teaches her child is about the invisible world of God, His angels, and His saints. The gestures she makes, the questions she answers with gentle patience, the beauty she adorns her home with, to radiate the unseen, the simple prayers she teaches her little one, even the hierarchy of family life which she observes — all these offer, in freedom, the gift of faith to the child.
How paramount her position is, in the heart of the home! How decisive for the kingdom!
As with everything here at the SFH, the best thing is for you to take my ideas, which come from my experience of escaping feminism to enjoy the gift of 45 years of marriage, seven children, and more than a score of grandchildren, and apply them to your situation with discernment, prudence, and confidence — and a sense of humor!
