She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Proverbs 31:27
Early on in our marriage, I made a mistake in not somehow getting a good, sturdy, pretty table. In my defense, we had no money and buying second-hand was not the breeze it is in our internet age! Trying to decipher a classified-ad listing (do you even know what that is) was daunting, and we had no car, let alone truck.
Someone should have made me do it, by hook or crook!
If possible, find a table with some expandability factor (the one I finally got has two leaves that tuck under the top when not in use).
Get sturdy chairs. If you need benches, make sure they don’t tip.
Get what you need!
Maybe you have a good table. Is there some other piece of furniture you need for calm family life? A hutch? A sideboard? A shelf that goes on the wall? The good housewife procures things from afar (e.g. Facebook Marketplace! where those things can be found for a song or even free!)
