The culture of the family table is more important than the food that's on it
Though we love to make good food!
"Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith”
Proverbs 15:17
Good housewives can get very wound up about the question of the quality of food they buy and serve. We began here with the sourdough starter method because good bread is the staff of life and making it is very satisfying.
But most important of all is the love we share around the table — even when it seems more like a trial than a pretty picture! Setting it nicely reminds us of the importance of this daily sharing of family life.
Make it a firm habit to say grace (or sing it!). It’s rather sad to see those YouTubes of homesteaders who have put in so much work to grow good food — or top chefs who have cooked it with such finesse — sit down and start digging in without expressing gratitude to the Good God Who provides. Let’s pray together and thank Him for all His benefits!
PS: Many asked me in the last post about where I get my candles. Besides the link there for votives, I also buy these nice tapers and these special beeswax ones. (affiliate links) I try to stock up in January to be ready to get them blessed at Candlemas.
