I have a few suggestions for the to-do list today, as it’s the first week of the month, and a day when we likely need to bring the house back from the Thanksgiving weekend’s celebrations, and the time quickly to pivot to Advent. We’ll hit the ground running!
Pay some bills.
Start some extra loads of laundry: sheets and towels from guests, tablecloths (treating spots and stains), dish towels and cloths, fancy party clothes.
Bring strategic areas in the house to a reasonably neat and tidy status for moderate cleaning later in the week — can’t do everything all in one day!
Think about and schedule for later Advent projects like making plum pudding, addressing Christmas cards, starting the decorating process*, and finalizing gift lists and crafting.
Look ahead to the usual week’s activities, planning menus, and shopping.
*Decorating little by little helps the children live the journey to Bethlehem. They love making ornaments and arranging greenery and so on; good activities during rest time and when they are hankering for something to do.

As with everything here at the SFH, the best thing is for you to take what I’m saying — ideas that come from my experience of 45 years of marriage and raising seven children — and apply them to your situation with discernment, prudence, and confidence — and a sense of humor!
Who is it that usually designs the beautiful printable Advent calendars for children? I tried looking for an old link on the blog this morning but didn't have any luck. My older kids have done it for the last few years and are looking forward to doing it again. Thank you!
Funny how this worked out. I let very few things have a regular spot in my inbox and your stuff has had one for a long, long time, but recently I signed up for RuthAnn Zimmerman's newsletter, which is a periodic affair. Anyway, I saw your post here, and then opened hers, just a quick note discussing how the internet until Christmas will be about like a shopping mall in the wee hours of the Friday after Thanksgiving, loud-wise.. and her own Monday list:
On my priority list for this Monday are things that I chose purposefully to quiet the day!!
Laundry,
Store China dishes in cabinets from Thanksgiving use,
Fill bird feeders,
Make tallow moisturizing lotion.
Get advent books and activities from storage.
Looks familiar! :]
